This is me, stepping out into the world of blogs. I thank all those who take the time to have a look at some of these lines and appreciate all comment of any constructive kind.

These poems come from Switzerland, and are influenced largely by the fact that a large part of my mental life is spent in the English language. This, my second language, I originally acquired in South Africa in 1982, so there may still be traces of SAE left, for which I will not apologize.

What a thrill – and a privilege – to discover these poems. Such simplicity yet so much profundity. I, too, have stared long and hard at ‘The Execution of lady Jane Grey’ but only skimmed its surface…This deeply moving poem has really made me look at it properly.

Been there, done that in ‘The Boys Are Leaving’ too – but wish I’d had the insight this Dad does!

SA English doesn’t show – but then would I recognise it ? Probably not – it’s all I speak.

    PS Love the Kallis allusion!
